Sunday Jan 29, 2012: Genesis 3:1-13, Deuteronomy 5:2-3, 8:12-14, Jeremiah 3: 4-11

Psalm 13: How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, O LORD my God. Give light to my eyes,I will sleep in death; my enemy will say, ” I have overcome him,” and my foes will rejoice when I fall. But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.

Genesis 3:1-13: Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.” “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” When the waman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” The man said, “The woman you put here with me-she gave me some fruit from the tree, an I ate it.” Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” (??????????????????)

Genesis 2:8: Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden, and there he put the man he had formed.

Deuteronomy 5:2-3: The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. It was not with our fathers that the LORD made his covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today.

Deuteronomy 8:12-14: Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the hand of slavery.

Jeremiah 3: 4-11: “Take the belt you bought and are wearing around year waist, and go now to perath and hide it there in a crevice in the rocks.” So I went and hid it at Perath, as the LORD told me. Many days later the LORD said to me, “Go now to Perath and get the belt I told you to hide there.” So I went to Perath and dug up the belt and took it from the place where I had hidden it, but now it was ruined and completely useless. Then the word of the LORD came to me: “This is what the LORD says: ‘In the same way I will ruin the pride of Judah and the pride of Jerusalem. These wicked people, who refuse to listen to my words, who follow the stubbornness of their hearts and go after other gods to serve and worship them, will be like this belt-completely useless. For as a belt is bound around a man’s waist, so I bound the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to me, declares the LORD, ‘to be my people for my renown and praise and honor. But they have not listened.’ “Say to them; “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Every wineskin should be filled with wine.’ And if they say to you, ‘Don’t we know that every wineskin should be filled with wine?” Then tell them, ‘This is what the LORD says: I am going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land, including the kinds who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all those living in Jerusalem. I will smash them one against the otehr, fathers and sons alike, declares the LORD. I will allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep me from destroying them.”

Samuel 16:7: A heart in every thought renewed and full of love divine, perfect and right and pure and good, a copy, lord, of thine. The LORD looketh on the heart.; in bible, “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” (i am not good at scripture; yesterday, learned from the pastor that words from scripture should be interpreted in context of the whole story of that part of scripture.)

“The LORD, What Is it? What Now?

“where have you been? when i was going through the valley of death, where have you been? what were you doing? where have you been all these times? such a cold heart.”

Psalm 96

Sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Sing to the LORD, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

Ascribe to the LORD, all you families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come into his courts.
Worship the LORD in the splendor of his[a] holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.
Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns.” The world is firmly established, it cannot be moved;
he will judge the peoples with equity.

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.

Is there any way of measuring the impact of stimulus package on the US economy?

i woke up with this notion, which i should have remembered, but forgot remembering earlier.

Earlier, some economists warned that the size of the first recovery package was not big enough to make a significant impact on the US economy and unemployment situation.

If that had been the case, the outcome of computable generalized equilibrium model of the recovery package on the US economy and employment may not be impressive. In that case, as economists may do so as standard procedure, the CGE analyses may be run with several scenarios of the different sizes of recovery packages: (A) the case of the actual recovery package, (B) the benchmark scenario of no recovery package, (C) several scenarios of what if the recovery package had been far bigger, what would have happened to the economy and unemployment? (with a few scenarios of bigger, far bigger recovery package sizes; may provide good justification of future recovery packages)

Original Text: It’s again a random thought. The kind of thing that pops out when doing random things, like driving, doing dishes, chores, or taking shower etc. i seem to do more intensive thinking when doing dishes or grocery etc. Again, while i was driving, it occurred to me that maybe there may be a possibility of measuring the impact of the economic stimulus package on the US economy. It’s because, although the stimulus package has done something good in terms of creating jobs, improving the US economy, it still gets criticized, attacked by ignorant people. And the only defense of the package has been “It Could have Been Worse” without it.

Computable general equilibrium (CGE) model”

i don’t know this model in detail. i hadn’t used it.  if i had stayed in academia i would have taken the training program for using this model. i just read the rough description of this model. it just occur to me that there may be a way of measuring the effect of stimulus package on the US economy by using this CGE model. As wickipedia shows, “CGE models are a class of economic models that use actual economic data to estimate how an economy might react to changes in policy, technology or other external factors. CGE models are also referred to as AGE (applied general equilibrium) models.

The outcome of this model may vary, depending on how the model settings are conditioned by the analysts, which economists do the analysis with what intention, etc. But if properly, fairly done, this model could be a way of answering, closing this arguments of recovery package and finding the justification of having another one??? Probably right economists should have some answer to this.

President Obama’s State of Union Speech: “It’s as good as it gets.”

This morning, while i was driving my girl to her school, i heard radio news comment about “President’s State of Union Speech, saying that “it’s as good as it gets.” I believe so, too. Frankly speaking, i was a bit tired and felt like getting cold last night. So while listening to it, i fell in sleep. This morning, i heard bits of the speech from here and there. So, i post the you tube site of that speech here, frankly speaking, as for my later reference to go back.

Before the speech, there was a comment that the State of Union Speech usually doesn’t affect the outcome of incumbent president’s re-election prospect so much. But, after the speech, i hear that the Speech may pave the road for President’s re-election.

“President Obama’s “Gizillian-Dollar-War-Chest””

(although i have no sense of how much gizillian dollar would be.) I believe President’s State of Union Speech was an elaborately well woven tapestry of well developed, deepened political strategies, policies, giving us the clues of the well seasoned leader’s elaborate political skills and depth, along with unyielding passion, even after three years of steering the tough salty stormy political water. The texture of his speech gives the taste of the difference of his experience before and after he entered the Presidency, but the same person with same or greater vigor, passion, and more seasoned strategic thinking that don’t disappoint us but reassure us “Who He Is.” His emphasis on “Economic Equality” and “Tax” issues are right on target while the gradual recovery of US economy and the tough battle of GOP primary make his sailing to re-election smoother. It appears that President is approaching his second-term with another storm, but with different kind of waves than his first ones. Some say that his speech (i heard that the major part of the speech is Mr. Obama’s own writing) was too long, should have been shorter, more efficient; but i like it better in that way, because it shows the amount, strength of his enthusiasm on it, that made him forget about efficiency, a minor point compared to the importance of contents and specifics. i hear praises about how specific his policy suggestions, unlike his predecessors’. Some say that he should have bragged more about his achievements. One of good parts of the speech, i think, was “We Cannot Go Back to Where We Were.” (am i saying correctly?) After the late night speech (i’d say, because i fell in sleep), he is out on campaign trail to Arizona, Iowa, Michigan…..right next this morning. whhhhhhmmmmmm.

And he shows his respect to other cultures.

i respect people who sincerely fulfill their callings.

“As Gingrich’s fate rises, so does Obama’s” (Yahoo News)

Image Detail“The evangelical dilemma in South Carolina: adulterer or Mormon?”

The above catch phrase almost seems to foreshadow, bear symbolic meaning on the current, future trend of GOP presidential candidates’ campaign for the 2012 election. The continuous, unpredictable twists of the candidates’ fates don’t fail to blow our minds off. The newest twist of campaign trend is well summarized in the below graph from Yahoo News. The battle between two major GOP contenders appears to have increasingly reduced their chances of winning the White House while strengthening President’s chance of re-reigning for the second term. It’s a relief, as it seems that what GOP candidates are talking sound like they may reverse any recovery or progress made for the last a few years back to the previous condition or worse while President’s policy agendas are getting healthier, more focused, more improved.

“the Gingrich-Romney battle determines about 87.5 percent of the variability in Obama’s likelihood of reelection. To wit, for every 10 percent more likely Gingrich is to win the nomination, Obama is 0.75 percent more likely to win reelection. For every 10 percent less likely Romney is to win the election if he wins the nomination, Obama is 2.75 percent more likely to win reelection.”

Sunday Jan 22 2012: Psalm 8, Exodus 17:8-16, Romans 16:1-2, Proverbs 16: 31-32, Isaiah 2:2-4

Psalm 8: O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet: all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Exodus 17:8-16: The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.” So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’s hands grew tired, they took a ston and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up-one on one side, on on the other-so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.” Moses built an alter and called it THE LORD is my Banner. He said,

“For hands were lifted up to the throne of the LORD. The LORD will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation.”

Romans 16:1-2: I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church in Cenchrea. I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been a great help to many people, including me.

Proverbs 16: 31-32: Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life. Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city. The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

Psalm 96:6: Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his santuary.

Isaiah 2:2-4: In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the temple of the GOD of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes from many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

i  blink. i’m not sure what is what. what is real, what is nor real?  just a few days ago, i bowed my head to my feet in respect for G-, but with anger, humiliation. Then He scared me, with greenish….light coming from ……now, i don’t have any opinion or judgement. ‘m blank. i would do whatever whenever G-, i believe, says, without thinking. Scripture says i should not get out of His Palm.

Obama Addresses Job Creation For Election Year

“President Barack Obama’s “billion-dollar war chest”"

We are proud of it.

Still things seem to be going all right, toward reasonable directions. And there is an INTRIGUING, HILLARIOUS  title of  Yahoo news.:

“The evangelical dilemma in South Carolina: adulterer or Mormon?”

For South Carolina conservatives, especially evangelical Christians, the 2012 campaign season is the year of magical rethinking. Look at the frontrunners:

If you want a president with a legacy of marital fidelity, you’re going to have to work around Newt Gingrich’s adultery.

If you believe that Mormons don’t really qualify as Christian, you may find yourself struggling with Mitt Romney.

“almost-dead.bz.cm” you are none of my concern. you are too stupid, trivial, meaningless, filthy, same with your Russian whore and her stupid husband. YOU THINK I”M ALMOST DEAD?; your life has been useless, full of dirts with your dirty heart/eyes, even messing up churches with your filthy, dirty eyes. The LORD will deal with you, what you have done. not me. Despite all cruel/brutal things you’ve done to make me disappear, why do you think i’m still here?
“In your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. In your unfailing love, silence my enemies; destroy all my foes, for I am your servant.” “The LORD has rewarded me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his sight. To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shred. You saved the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light…..You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn. I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till they were destroyed. I crushed them so that they could not rise; they fell beneath my feet. You armed me with strength for battle; you made my adversaries bow at my feet. You made my enemies turn their backs in flight, and I destroyed my foes. They cried for help, but there was no one to save them – to the LORD, but he did not answer. I beat them as fine as dust borne on the wind… “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”;  Psalms 18″ Thank G-.

A Little Tomato Story

While eating vegetable during mealtime, my little one reminded me of our old cherished story that we love to laugh at. It happened years ago, when we lived in other state. My older daughter was 1st grader and younger one three  years old. After school, I and kids went to a grocery store. We were picking vegetables in vegi section, which reminded my older daughter of what happened at her school. On that day, her elementary school had an event of students bringing their younger siblings to school classrooms. So, the seven year old brought her three year old sister to her classroom. In the middle of class, the three year old shouted,

“Tomato is coming!,” “Tomato is coming!”

The older one looked outside the classroom window and saw a tornado coming from a distance toward the school building.

I think I never saw any tornado in real life. But my kids did, at least once. Once I met my girl’s friend who was visiting this town for ten months. She was nine year old. She said that she experienced tornado twice in her life. Both time, those tornados ripped off her houses. One reason of her visit to this town at that time was also because her house was being repaired for several months after it was torn off by tornado and her entire family was traveling with her father and his business schedule. She seemed to have lived a lot.

“discuss the december standoff over the…. ” don’t get it. mean really literally discuss?

Sunday Jan 16 2012: Psalm 4, Isaiah 43:2-3, 2:2-4

Psalm 4: Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer. How Long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. In your anger do not sin;; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Isaiah 43:2-3: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee…for I am the Lord thy God.

Luke 8:12: Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.

Corinthians 11:2-4: I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preaches, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. But I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “superapostles.” I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.

Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

when are you going to save me?; ” “almost-dead.bz” “, somebody doesn’t seem to like me, or it’s the person who actually almost killed me.; let’s talk about y self. doing what all the time with w.., bitter hone…?  who’s not complying? who’s lieing in selfishness. and what? at least can not talk about night statue that much because its devoted to other business? and wish for respect?

The re-election prospect is going pretty well

The prospect of re-election seems to be pretty good, according to the Gallup polling. These flat lines kind of make us think that there haven’t been ups and downs of the past pollings.

dropping out? worrysom. they not going toget..? ; Sir.; “changing conditions of the amazon rainforest” meaning?; “which place is this”? what is “which place”?; “lord hear….” the lord looked different lately…..; “rise and fall…” read them…? honor if. then, will i live? confusing b. real, non-real.
